In Japan, after the cherry blossom season ends, wisteria blooms from mid-April to May.
Some foreigners may not recognize wisteria, but wisteria in Osaka is considered to be a historically important flower.

Today, we will introduce to you the famous locations to enjoy wisteria trellis in Osaka, which is as romantic as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.


What is “Nodafuji,” One of the Three famous Wisteria trellis?

“Nodafuji” (Noda Wisteria) is said to have initiated from Noda in Fukushima-ku, Osaka city (Near Kasuga Shrine.)
The beautiful flower was famous from 600 years ago, and it was counted as one of the “Three major sightseeing places” along with the “Cherry blossom of Yoshino (Nara prefecture)” and “Autumn leaves of Takao (Kyoto prefecture),” and many people visited the area. Even up to today, this area is counted as one of the three major location famous for its wisteria along with “Wisteria of Ushijima (Saitama prefecture)” and “Wisteria of Kasugano (Nara prefecture).”

Blooming wisteria every year is not an easy thing to do. There are many flowers which never blooms even if it is being taken care of for many years.
Some flowers don’t bloom even though it did a year before.

In Fukushima-ku, where “Noda Wisteria” originated, the members of “Nodafuji-no-kai (Noda Wisteria association)” carefully observes various wisterias to learn and to research about its characteristics.
The “Wisteria trellis” which is designed for the plants to bloom downwards from above is stunning to see.
The beautiful glamour and the sweet smell of the flowers will definitely appeal the visitors.
