Most of the clocks chosen in the 12 were clocks of great history and tradition.

But the clock here at Osaka is different. Let’s take a look at the difference.
The world's most beautiful clock

Osaka’s famous “water clock.”

Unlike other clocks, this clock does not have does not have a clock dial or hand to show the time because the water shows the time.

Not only does the water clock show time, but it displays pictures of seasonal flowers and plants. It even greets many travelers from across the World in many different languages.

This idea and technology is praised around the world and is a popular place for foreign visitors to come by to take photos and videos of the water clock.

So how does this work?

Where the water come out

The water is shot out from the nozzle above. The amount of every line of water is controlled by a computer. By controlling the length of the lines, pictures and words can be shown in the air. This technology is called Space Printer.

The Space Printer was made by a fountain making company in Osaka, KOEI. Their products are used at live concerts as it uses a small amount of electricity but still shows great stage performance.

The water can be controlled as small as 1/100 of a second. The pictures are shown by using a computer and printing it in the air with water.

where the water drops

Small stones are spread underneath, so the water will not splash all over the place.

When the idea of using water to express pictures and words came out, a fountain was planned to be used for it. However, considering the amount of water that would have to be used, the Space Printer was invented.

This water clock uses only a small amount of water, so it is not only beautiful but is also eco-friendly.
