Experience Traditional Culture in Osaka by Make your original “Washi” (Japanese paper) at this popular workshop
DATE: Activities/
The participants will make their original postcards by using the ingredients for washi (minced bark) through a technique called “Kamisuki.”
You can decorate the postcards with small paper pieces and pressed flower petals to make your very own postcards.
If you finish early, why don’t you write a letter to someone with the washi postcard?
For those who are visiting from foreign countries, it may be interesting to challenge writing a message in Japanese.

~The passion of Kamitowa~
Spread the tradition to people not only in Japan but also to ones abroad
With the recent decrease in demand of paper due to the digitalization, we started the service to allow more people to feel the warmth and the culture of washi.
The beauty of the long-lasting culture can only be learned from being experienced by people.
Also, people at Kamitowa hope this experience can be an opportunity for people with different cultures to communicate and to engage with each other.
They said that there are going to be more workshops coming up in the future, so it is exciting what kind of experience we can do there!
They gave us a sneak peek of the upcoming workshop!
They are planning a workshop wherein participants can make “Shuin-cho,” which is a notebook to collect the stamps available in each temple and shrines, and go to shrines to collect the stamps using the notebook.
Please look forward to the upcoming courses.
There are many other courses available, including”wall panel workshop,” so please check the homepage for further information!
