Manbu Oneri Ritual

Recreation of paradise, parading with 25 gold bodhisattva masks. Elegant and gorgeous ritual of Dainenbutsuji Temple.

A ritual to recreate the world of paradise in Sukhavati-vyuha Sutra, a tradition from the Nanbokucho era.
Monks dressed as bodhisattvas in beautiful glittering costume and gold masks cross Raigo bridge with the parishioners and recite the Sutra 10,000 times.
Designated as an intangible folklore cultural asset by Osaka city in 2002.
