Ningyo Joruri Bunraku puppet plays are a traditional art form originating in Osaka and extending back to the Edo period (1603-1868). The plays are moving tales depicting romantic love and tragedy through puppets.
The theater is decorated in special New Year’s fashion with massive “niramidai” and “otako” hanging kites, for an extravagant atmosphere as you take in the show.
